The Band Celtic Keep      

The band was in the planning stage for over ten years.  In truth, almost 15 years when the founding members did some pipe sets with the Irish folk group "Blackthorn", from Yongstown, Ohio.  Moving from concept to reality was difficult.  One of the founding members, an Army Officer, kept moving.  With time came the need to just do something.  So with a small sub group, the band was formed in August of 2002.  The distance issue has not yet been resolved, however the full band will play when ever it can. 

You could trace the concept of a band, of sorts, back to the mid 1970s.  Brad and Bill, both new guitar players, were caught up in the Folk Rock movement and often talked about a band.  Add Doug's trip to the era's most famous music venue, Woodstock,  and the seeds of what could be were sown..

The real start of Celtic Keep was the meeting of the founding members. This meeting took place in Grove City, PA.  When Bill joined the Grove City Pipes and Drums.  Doug and Dave had been with the band for some time but Bill was a pure rookie.    The friendship grew and piping became a passion for all three of them.
